“You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around - and why his parents will always wave back.” ~William D. Tammeus
Last night, Tommy T ordered me take out from The River Grill for dinner. I got to soak in a hot bath while he went to pick it up. In my jammies, I dined on the most scrumptious Filet Mignon dinner…topped off with Crème Brulee. The clock struck 9:30 pm and I was off to dreamland. A rarity for me. 12 hours later…..12!!!!….Mother’s Day started for me…and I loved it.
1. I loved sleeping in until 9:30 a.m. – just to be awakened by Tommy T – telling me to keep sleeping.
2. I loved being “re-awakened’ by my babies singing “Happy Mother’s Day to You”.
3. I loved each of them climbing into bed with me…presenting their handmade treasures….their kisses, their nuzzles, repeated over and over.
4. I loved that none of them seemed to want to leave my bed and just stared at me like I was a rock star.
5. I loved how Karah delivered me the Sunday paper and a pair of scissors because she knows how I love to clip coupons.
6. I loved watching HGTV as Tommy T prepared my breakfast.
7. I loved that he made me French toast and PERFECT bacon…taking the time to decorate my plate with fresh berries, walnuts, and juice.
8. I loved that the kids picked fresh flowers off my clematis so I could have them on my breakfast tray.
9. I loved the bouquet of flowers my kids brought me in a root beer mug.
10. I loved that Tommy T brought me more bacon.
11. I loved the “I Love You’s” I got throughout the day.
12. I loved talking to my kids on the way to church – enjoying their curious minds as they asked me if stone houses are stronger than brick houses.
13. I loved that the sacrament meeting talks in church were about “real mothers”…not fairytale perfect mothers.
14. I loved that we were out of diapers – so I sent Bryce to church wearing a swimmer…and it leaked through his clothes and all over Tom’s suit….and Tommy T just laughed about it.
15. I loved that a young man from church found me in the hall during a time-out with Bradley – to give me a rose – since I wasn’t in the chapel when they handed them out. Who get’s roses during Time-Outs?
16. I loved that during Relief Society, we were served chocolate éclairs, fresh berries, and punch while we listened to our youth sing us songs and a few great speakers.
17. I loved Tommy T taking my face between his hands and telling me how much he loves me…that I am beautiful…and that he is so thankful for our children…all while my mouth was stuffed with marshmallows.
18. I loved the sweet gifts I received.
19. I loved laying on the couch with all three bears draped over me while we watched R.V. together.
20. I loved tucking them in over and over every time they heard thunder.
21. I loved that Mother Nature sent me my period today. It’s the best.
Little Bear Cubs,
I have wanted you all of my life. When I was young and pictured my family…you are EXACTLY what I wanted…from the way you laugh…to your faces…to your fantastic humor and wit…to your sweetness and kindheartedness...and even your strong wills and occasional sassiness. You are JUST as I always imagined. I am so thankful for MY mama for teaching me the gospel of Jesus Christ…for urging me to cling to it…and for being able to give it to each of you today. I am so thankful that Heavenly Father blessed me with everything I dreamed of. I am truly Thrice Blessed.
I love being your mama….more than filet mignon and crème brulee :),
The Mama Bear
I love that you had such a lovely day! You deserved it!
ReplyDeleteI love that Tom had his mouth stuffed with marshmallows telling you how much he loves you. That's great! This is awesome, how do you do it, you just capture life so well.
