Addiction

I was severely addicted to Diet Coke since….college. A couple of years ago, I was having heart palpitations and went to the Emergency Room. The doctor told me that my heart was fine – but I needed to chillax on the caffeine.  So…I went completely off soda for well over a year. Loved water. One day, I felt the need to “feel the burn” again – so I compromised and started going to Chick-Fil-A because they have caffeine-free Diet Coke. It just doesn’t taste the same out of a can, I tell you. One sip and I fell off the wagon. Faithfully I have gone…every day….$1.86 each time.

I recently hit a low while “driving thru”. My two year old said, “Ashley or Trey?” I had to do an auditory double take. “What!?”

“Ashley or Trey there?”

Before I could answer him – I pulled up to the pick-up window and Bryce said, “Oh…Keith”.

My children know the names of the drive thru workers. This is beyond pathetic.

I’m getting back on the wagon…right after I get one on the way to pick up the kids from school. Promise.
