I am a member of an exclusive club.
The Best Witches Club.
It's comprised of my Mother, Sisters, Sisters-in-love, and a couple close friends.
See....I told you it was exclusive. :)
We get together from time to time for dinner, a movie, or crafting.
Last weekend, we decided to have our first
Best Witches Star Gazing Party
on Donkey Hill.
Tom and Bradley were so sweet. They built us a fire pit to use for the festivities.
They gathered the wood and set everything up for us.
The Best Witches are a pampered bunch.
Karah and Bryce warmed up the cots before the guests arrived.
Bradley continued the hunt for wood and found a twig.
They had the fire roaring by sunset.
My Hero.
I love him.
The Sunset was beautiful.
I dream of the day when I can look out the window of my house and watch it.
Courtney and I did an iPhone self photo shoot while we waited for the others.
Ended up looking like something from The Blair Witch Project.
Everyone arrived and the laughter began...and didn't end.
These ladies are my favorite people to be around.
The pictures got crappier as the night progressed.
The glowing forehead in the background is my mama.
She looked beautiful by the fire...even though she was suffering
from a combination of paranoia and dementia.
Since we were sitting on top of a hill...with a fire...cars slowed down on the road below in fear that there was a forest fire.
Courtney thought ti would be a good idea to flash her flashlight at them to signal that we were okay and having a party.
Apparently, people take a flashing light as a signal for help. A car turned and started driving up the field towards us. My mother was convinced that the axe murderer was coming and we were all going to die. That pretty much lasted the entire evening.
Josie warmed her bickies by the fire. She slapped em, too.
Every time the animals rustled a leaf or stepped on a branch, my mother went into fight or flight mode....which LIKELY would have ended up as Fight THEN Flight, if I know my mama.
We played a spooky game of "WouldYaRather".
4/5 of us decided we would rather sleep alone in a dark movie theater over an abandoned mental hospital or in the middle of the desert.
This one preferred the desert.
Courtney made us the BEST Hot Chocolate and tended to the fire all night.
She was the "responsible one" in the group.
She's a take charge kinda gal.
She sprayed whipped cream on our cocoa and my mom came out of her chair, thinking it was a hissing raccoon.
After the fire died down, we took our pillows and blankets to star gaze on the trampoline.
Shanaynay and I cuddled in the middle. We were so warm.
We laid low while the others were cackling and howling...threatening to pee their pants.
Speaking of pee...the highlight of the evening was my demonstration on how to properly pee in the great outdoors without getting leg trickle.
They were amazed at my skills.
Donkey Hill has taught me so much, see?
While laying out on the trampoline, my mother kept sitting up every time she heard something.
You can see the fear in her eyes...and her nose.
She begged to leave. She begged for us to feed her some eggs at Village Inn.
We eventually granted her request and left for Village Inn after risking life and limb trying to get off the trampoline. Josie's dismount was the most entertaining to watch.
We went to Village Inn and ended up shutting the place down.
We ate and laughed until we cried.
I left with a "perma-grin" on my face...thinking of how much i love each of them.
We can't wait for our next Donkey Hill Best Witches Club.
SO much more fun than dinner and movie.
I love you, witches.
It was the best night ever!!! I loved Courtney's experiment with the foam cup in the fire, Josie and Courtney clinging to the trampoline with muscles twitching, the falling stars that fell just for us, the smart phone games, tinkles in the woods, the moving of animals (probably bears) that we could not see, the telling of scarey true life experiences (no wonder I was paranoid), background party music from your neighbors free of charge, the flashlight scans to check for ghosts and murderers, Courtney scurrying under the net of the trampoline to save me from a sure sudden death dismounting on Bradley's steps, Josie burning the boxes cause we ran out of wood, a thousand stars in the sky that made me realize just how much I love being with each one of our crazy crew, and Sarah asking the waitress at the restaurant, "What are we doing here?", with a crazed look upon her face while clinging to her root beer! I know we were their favorite clients that evening - the waitress ended her shift with giggles a plenty! We seem to have that effect upon everyone that happens upon the Best Witches! Love you all!!! Now what do I do with four boxes of Graham Crackers that we never used??? Time for another club meeting! Hey I never got to see the donkeys!!!
ReplyDeleteI love you too, Sarah, and all my BWC sisters! It was definitely a night to remember. I had so much fun! I love that now our memories are recorded and we will never forget our fun night. Oooh, and Mama Jean, I forgot about Sarah clutching her soda! That was hilarious!!!
ReplyDeleteFor the record...it was a Diet Coke :)
