This past Halloween weekend Bradley spent his time battling a nasty cough/fever virus. It was no way to spend Halloween. He managed to make his way half way around the neighborhood before he had to head back home. Later that night he came to me and said "I am NEVER going to feel better! I want a prayer on my head." Of course he was talking about wanting to receive a Priesthood blessing from Daddy.
Daddy changed from his Halloween grubbies into a white shirt and tie. I love this about your Dad. He honors and respects the Priesthood so much that he takes the time to put nice clothes on - even if one of us needs a blessing in the middle of the night.
Well, Daddy laid his hands on Bradley's head and gave him a sweet blessing - telling him that he would be able to sleep through the night and offering words of comfort to the little guy who was at the end of his physcial and emotional rope. I love that even as a three year old, Bradley knew where to turn for comfort and peace. Even as a little guy, he understood the real power of the priesthood.
When I went to tuck him in later that night, he had the sweetest look on his face. He said, "Mommy, where does Jesus live?" I explained to him that Jesus was resurrected and that He lives....and one day He will return to the earth and we will be able to see His face and feel Him. Bradley said, "Can you call Him and tell Him to come over to our house.....and we'll make him a shake?"
I chuckled and told him that I thought Jesus would love that if He could come. He then told me that he would make Jesus a card. "What would it say?", I asked. "It would say I love you and then I would sing Him a song." "What song would you sing?", I questioned."I would sing Him a song that said I love Him."
Though his sweet three year old vocabulary wouldn't allow him to fully express all that he was feeling at the time.....it was evident through his comments and the feeling in the room that he was saying that he was thankful for Jesus Christ and for the Priesthood that his Daddy holds - that enables him to be comforted and made whole. He was feeling love for Jesus.
I kissed his sweet head goodnight.
For the first time in three nights, he slept all through the night.
I pray each of you will always be quick to rely on the Lord and to always be comfortable to ask for "a prayer on the head" when you are in need. I also hope that you will always understand and be full of gratitude that your Daddy holds the Priesthood and honors it by the way he lives.

When you are all grown up, you will look back
with a complete understanding of just how great of a man he is.
We are all so blessed to have him as ours.

I love you little bear cubs.....more than I love the Snickers bars you scored this weekend.
