Catching Up: Mule Jump

In early October we took the kids to their first Mule Jump. Tom and I are always on the lookout for new events to explore…especially the ones that look like they could produce a good laugh. The Pea Ridge Mule Jump did NOT disappoint, as you can imagine.

In addition to the mule jump, they had mule barrel racing. I had no idea mules could run that fast…and I also had no clue that old people could RIDE mules while they were running that fast.

My face hurt from laughing so hard.

There were also little kid riders…this one was completely adorable.

There contest was interrupted when people in the stands started yelling for a paramedic. There was a little old lady who passed out from all the excitement. The EMT’s took their sweet time making their way through the crowd. They eventually loaded her up on the gurney and hauled her off. The show must go on!

The kids enjoyed playing on the inflatables…

We ended the morning with lunch in the back of Daddy’s pickup truck….like the genuine rednecks do.

The food was actually really good.

Bradley opted for a beast of a corn dog. Tom and I were sick just watching him eat it.

Bryce preferred the pretzel that was as big as his melon.

Karah joined Tom and I for some pulled pork. We bought our BBQ from a church booth…because God makes everything taste better.

And let’s not forget the lemonade (in the background). It was delicious and served through a straw the size of a fire hose.

We decided that the we will adopt the Mule Jump as one of our Annual traditions. It was that fun. Who knows…maybe Tom will register to ride next year!
