Well…a few adjustments have been made to my meal planning. First of all, I had to find a spreadsheet that was “editable”. I couldn’t do the handwritten thing any longer. I have this bad habit of having to start a brand new menu every time I would make a mistake on the paper. It became maddening…and I surrender.
The other change…not writing down breakfast and lunch. The kids and I go through the lunch menu every week and decided which days they want to buy and which days they want to pack their lunch. This is easy. As far as me writing down what I am going to have for lunch…well, that’s turned out to be pointless. I think I actually ate what I had “planned” – one time this entire month. Friends show up, Tom calls and wants to meet, I’m running errands and grab something when I’m out….or, like most days, I forget to eat lunch until it’s almost time to eat dinner. Again, I surrender.
Lastly, I don’t feel the need to plan breakfasts…because I have the plan worked out in my head and we rotate through our “usuals”. Also, no griping from the kids when they see they were supposed to be having pancakes….and they ended up with cereal. I have decided that mothers reserve the right to decide what they have the energy for each morning. My menu won’t tell me what to do.
So…this leads me to my next point. I also feel it’s been annoying (to you and me) – posting menu’s every week.
So. Tada. I present the monthly menu. Dinners only. Simple. And only one menu posted per month.
Smart, eh? You will have to click it to be able to read it. Not so smart.
