Winter Bucket List: Breakfast with Santa/Christmas Parade

Bryce's Preschool hosts a Breakfast with Santa each year before the town's Christmas Parade...and YES, our town still calls it a CHRISTMAS Parade. I love it.

Bryce taught himself how to whistle several months ago. He doesn't do it in the traditional form...but his technique proves to be equally powerful and damaging to the ear drum.

Not only does he whistle for fun...he whistles when he gets nervous...nonstop. See form below.

He whistled his way through the line as he waited for Santa's lap.

He paused long enough to tell Santa that he wanted a Williams-Sonoma Snow cone machine.

And then reverted back to the whistle.

After the tummy's were full - we were off to claim our spot on the parade route for some good people/pup watching before the fun began.

Enjoy the following "Dogumentary".

Okay...Piper wasn't in the parade...but she should have been. She would have owned it like this Police Officer owned "the Cop lunge". He held it for a good 10 minutes. Made my hamstrings cramp up just watching him.

A few other highlights.

Tiger makes me smile.

Crocodile man makes sweat.

Moto-Cops make me giggle.

Middle aged men dressed up like elves make me look away.

The donkey's hypnotic eyes put me in a trance.

Tiger boy deepened said trance in a very uncomfortable way.

I loved the marching band.

I felt great concern for the seemingly blind cup of frozen yogurt and the acrobatic gorilla....and great respect for the Fencing Club.

My favorite float of the parade....

I felt pity for the lazy pug who was being enabled by the dog stroller.

And I felt nuthin but love for my boys.

Karah was missing from the pics because she ran into her best friend from 4th grade...and we let her enjoy the parade with her long lost BFF and her family.

And what would a Christmas parade be without a bald eagle?

The football players walked the parade...because they could. They made sure to make conversation with each other and not acknowledge the crowd.

And Snoopy made an appearance...all the way from the NYC Macy's parade. He was huge. It took at least 6 pieces of floss to tie him down.

and p.s.
.........................I would SO bite my lip if I was a drummer.

My love of parades continues on with great anticipation for the 2013 Parade!

  1. Oh Sarah you've done it again. Through picture and word you have restored a memory for me!!! Poppy and I were down the street and around the corner, but we saw the same magical sights during the hometown Christmas Parade!!! What a happy memory. It's magical that you were also able to capture Brycer's whistle. I hope he will always have his own special talent. I've tried a thousand times and still can't figure out how he does it!!! Such fun!
