Dats my Girls

Karah and Bradley joined running club at school, this year. They were training to run their first 5k. Sometimes I would drop in on them at the track --- and every time I came, they were running together. It made me so happy – that even though they each had their individual friends there – they still chose to stick together.

Bradley had a conflict the night of the race. He had a Fathers/Son Campout the same night…and you probably don’t have to guess which one he picked. More on the camping trip, later.

Karah ran with two of her best friends, Kess and Rhiannon.

Yes, they are 6 years older, but they have known each other since Karah was itty bitty…and the girls have never “ditched” her….even in their teenage years when it technically isn’t cool to hang out with a “little kid”. They have so much fun together – and the twins are a great example to her. Great girls, who she looks up to a lot.

Karah tried to act brave…but her mama could see the nervousness on her face as she waited for the race to start. Can you see it, too?

I looked at the sea of people (which ended up being 1200) – and wanted to run and go snatch her up….buckle her into her baby carrier…and take her home and rock her before I put her to bed in her crib. THEN, I remembered she isn’t a little baby anymore. But why does she still FEEL like my little baby?  Where does the time go? ………………… I am POSITIVE everyone could see the nervousness on MY face.

Before we knew it, they were off.

As she approached the home stretch, our eyes met. She looked so proud of herself.

They sprinted to the finish line…

And crossed it in great time!

The ice cream truck passed out free popsicles after the race.

Much Deserved.

Since the boys were all gone camping,, all of us girls went out for a celebratory dinner and had some delicious Chinese.

Karah and I had a slumber party in my room – watching a “Say Yes to the Dress” marathon.

I think she fell asleep to me saying over and over how proud I am of her.

What a great thing  ----- for a young girl to set a big goal, work towards it, and accomplish it so WELL!!!

I am so happy for her and the boost of confidence this is sure to give her. She can do ANYTHING…because she is Karah Kinz!!!

I love you, Karah! Way to go!!!!

  1. I'm so impressed that she accomplished something that took me about 32 years to get up the guts to do! So proud of you Karah! She's sooo grown up that I always have to remind myself of her actual age! Addison just adores her. It's so fun to see how she just watches Karah with love and admiration, even at 1 year old!
