I Just Have to Vent

Indulge me a few minutes to get something off my chest. Let me preface this by saying that I DO love Tommy T. I do. I immortalize this complaint via blog.... only to send a message to him that this CANNOT happen again.

Last night Tommy T "took over" so I could work out during "The Biggest Loser". It's a weekly ritual - he bathes, does homework, plays, and puts to bed while I take a two hour hiatus.

He usually does a great job - where I only hear the occasional pitter patter of little feet running around above me. They are usually quickly corralled and sent back to bed.

Well....Tom is on the High Council and has to speak this Sunday....and has been trying to tie all of his thoughts together before he had to leave town this morning. As a result - a "keep them alive" attitude was adopted.....as the usual structure and routine was thrown out the window.

Apparently Bryce was crying - so Tommy T gave him the cure all noise stopper.....his cell phone.....which happened to be "dead" at the time. Bryce LOVES it. Tom handed it to him with no thought of the repercussions.......15 month old.....cell phone....leaving town tomorrow.......it's all very clear to you and me - but not so much for him.

I showered and passed out in bed quite early. He awoke me "Where's my cell phone? Have you seen my cell phone? I gave it to Bryce and I can't find it!" as he frantically clinked and clanked around the room. I was eventually able to block it out enough to fall back to sleep.

Later....not sure if it was minutes or hours....since I was SLEEPING....he shows up with a flashlight - searching ...making an even bigger ruckus. "I've GOT to find it! I'm leaving town in the morning! What did he do with that thing???"

I hopped out of bed and did an eensy amount of searching before he told me to not worry about it and go back to sleep....what a relief!

This morning - still searching. Everywhere. Karah was getting ready for school...Bradley was just waking up....and the baby sound asleep. SOUND ASLEEP, PEOPLE!
What does Tommy T do? "I'm waking him up so he can tell me what he did with it!"

Me: (internally) Oh my gosh. He has lost his mind. Oh my gosh. Please don't wake him up. Oh, there he goes up the stairs to get him....oh my gosh....does he really expect him to say 'Oh, I left it in the piano bench Daddy!'.....what is this man thinking!!!!!!
So he comes down with Bryce - looks him in the eye and talks very slowly - since we all KNOW that babies understand English better when you talk slowly..... "Where....did....you....put....Daddy's.......phone? Hi. Hi. Hi. Cell Phooooone."

"Cuckoo.", I thought.

No response from the baby.....perhaps because he is a BABY.

He then sets him down on the floor (not a good idea when you just awaken him) - and says "Show me where the cell phone is."

Bryce cries.

Tom picks him up and walks him through the house - waiting for the secret signal that he is going to give at any minute.

WAIT! WHAT'S THIS!
As they passed the guinea pig cage (we are babysitting) Bryce points and babbles!!!!
It MUST be in the cage...even though the baby can't even reach it.

Tom says "What? It's in the cage?", as he excitedly looks inside.

As it turns out - 15 month old's just get excited when they see small, furry animals.

The phone was not found. Tom rushed out the door for his trip. I stayed there.....with the screaming baby.

Thanks sweetie. You're the BEST! (but yes.....despite the cuckoo's.....I still love you :)

  1. I love thist post! We all love our hubbies, and everyone once in a while you just have to vent!

I hope you find the phone. It's always a pain when they're 'dead' or 'off' and you can't just call them.
