My visit with the Pie Chick

Many of you have read of the pies. Well.....here she is. Sweet, sweet, Emily, maker of the pies.

She recently lured me over to her house - to get her pie tin back....finally. What was her secret weapon? Apple Blackberry. Wow.

A friend of mine (who shall remain anonymous)
was over at my house later that evening and tasted some of the pie. She said, "My mom thinks she makes the best pie crust....but she doesn't. Not anymore."

This was a huge statement since this girl's mama apparently DOES make an incredible pie crust.

I am in the process of negotiations with Emily - for a pie class. I have the horrible feeling that it will be like every other "class" I've attended....where you come home and practice - only to find out that it is "THEIR" talent.....and a recipe doesn't guarantee a reproduction of the miracle.

Nevertheless, we will try.

While there I met her little lad, Max, who is incredibly cute. He is a spiritual boy. I found him in the woods - praying for world peace and more pies.
He would often exit the conversation and enter a deep, meditative state...in which he would ponder life's deepest questions.

I also met Emily's She-dog.She doesn't bark - but has the ability to howl due to her coyote heritage. Cool she-dog.
A few more pics of Max....

Emily and I were brought together when I gave her this rug....which goes perfectly with her decor - wouldn't you agree?

With the giving of the rug - came the receiving of a new friend, a sweet buddy, a well-mannered pup.....and pies.

Best trade I have ever made.

  1. pie stealer!
    I don't blame you.
    I dream about that pie.
She even gave me the recipe once, and tried to teach me how to make it. I hold the recipe in secrecy in my cookbook, but am tempted to enter in some sort of contest.

If I have to go much longer without the a pie of my own, I might make another attempt to recreate it's goodness.

But it won't be the same. I bet that pie tasted even better knowing it was highly coveted!
    yummy, yummy pie.
there isn't any left, is there?

  2. Sarah, You are not short on talent. I love your writing and your photography. Being a pie lover I would especially love to have the pie crust recipe. Mine is okay, but could stand some improvement. If the pie lady will allow would you post it?
