Resolute

The new year is here!!!This is the time of year for people to "resolve" to make changes in their lives. New Year's Resolutions are often mocked due to their fleeting nature.... people so "resolute" to change... until life settles in a few weeks later and everyone is back to square one. I think the problem is that many people make a list of everything they want to change about their lives....and try to fix it all at once.....hence, failing miserably.

This year I had the idea to make monthly resolutions.Small, manageable goals.....that can be measured and achieved in a short time period. If this was done every month....imagine what would be accomplished in the year!! We will see how this theory works in actuality....but for now, I thought I would record my January goals to add a bit of accountability.

January
  • Spiritual: Work on quality/frequency of personal prayers - Family prayers are right where they should be....but personally, I find myself rushing through things and going through the motions all too often. I want to get back to "communing" with Him....setting aside time each day - not just for praying...but for listening to His will in my personal dealings, as a mother, and as a wife. I will find more opportunities for prayer besides morning and night. I will learn to "draw my heart out continually in prayer".
  • Emotional:Read "Grieving Mindfully" - I will read 5 pages a day to finish this book by January 30th.
  • Intellectual: Learn Adobe CS3 - I will watch one Adobe video segment per day until I have completed the training.
  • Physical: Lift and Cardio at gym 3-4x/week- I will go to the gym 3-4 times a week. I will divide my days doing upper body lifting and running.....and lower body lifting and elliptical. I will workout at home the other 2 days of the week.....either doing yoga/stretching or walking on the treadmill. Sunday is rest day :)
So. There ya have it. I have made a simple spreadsheet where this will be easy to track each day....enabling me to stick with these goals. I will do an end of the month update each month - and list my goals for the next month.

Wish me luck!!!!
