We arose early and got everything cleaned and packed and headed to breakfast at a greasy, little hole in the wall. Bryce was introduced to French Toast and the restaurant was introduced to Bradley's dance. We then headed to Salt Lake. It was sad to leave the Midway/Heber. I still miss it.
I hung out with the kids and cousins at Mat and Lori's while Jim, Mat, and Tom golfed. We then headed to The Little America Hotel. This is somewhat of a tradition for Tom's family. A 30 year old tradition. Apparently they haven't remodeled the rooms since then - because they are still trying to appeal to the same clientele as 30 years ago. Extremely floral and brass. When we entered the hotel, we were greeted with the smell of nursing home food.
Everyone came and had dinner there. It was great to all be together for one last Hoorah. Believe it or not - our food was not served through a straw....it was actually pretty good. We had to swim one more time - it was kind of ironic that our last dip in the pool was during the beginning of a thunderstorm. It was as if the heavens were trying to tell us "Enough is enough - get out of the damn pool!"
That aint no gas can. That's my brother's head.
We all said our goodbyes - which was so hard. How we will miss them all!
We jammied up and placed our $125 room service Breakfast order for the morning. We were sure to order Bradley "two Yeggs" - his must have start to a day. The rest was french toast and fruit. That is some expensive bread! It was fun though - worth every penny.
Everything went flawlessly at the airport. All of the kids were great on the plane trip home and Bryce slept through it all- again.
Bryce and I were a little blue on the bus ride back to the car. Parting is such sweet sorrow.
Off to Arkansas we headed. The kids were spent....even while covered in crumbs!
On this trip I realized the value in taking regular family vacations - free from schedules, deadlines, and demands. I can honestly say that I fell in love with my family all over again - having the time to see them as they are - precious, hilarious, and a joy.
They are everything I have ever wanted.
Next Years Summer Vacation....TBA!
