Day 4- Sunday on the Road

We set our alarm and soon thereafter screams of "I don't WANT to go to church today!" echoed the walls of the house. Karah frantically looked for her missing "Hello Kitty" Glitter Shoes and Bryce screamed to be fed. Vacation didn't stop Sunday from coming. A typical, glorious Sunday. We decided to go to church with Renee and Kevin (my BFF from my younger years). I wonder if they were ashamed to introduce their Arkansas friends......Bryce in his denim coveralls, Karah wearing dirty flip flops (hello kitty was still MIA), and Bradley with hair gelled with snot that he has tousled through his hair during his tantrum....and he was wearing dirty Crocs. Bryce wanted to make sure I felt at home, so he fussed during church and made me walk the halls with him. Of course I didn't pack my church activity bag - so it made for a long meeting of my kids panhandling books, toys, and treats off of neighboring children.

After church we went to Dinner at Kevin and Renee's. She made the most delicious steak kabobs. It was so great to laugh and talk about old times and old boys and just enjoy being together again. Karah and Bradley had a great time playing with their cute little girl, Bethany.

Below is the BEST dessert I have had in my life....at least it rivals the Creme Brulee' at The River Grille. I DID bring the recipe home with me....if any of you are interest. It was seriously the best dessert I have had in a long time. I brought home the recipe!!

Later that night we ate out at Grannie's. It was a hole in the wall - but dang good. Was it calorically necessary? Nay.

It was actually a very dirty restaurant. Dirty enough for Bradley to feel comfortable putting his dirty Croc on the table, as seen above. The dirt didn't stop the food from tasting great. Burgers and shakes were on the menu, of course. In Utah, it is not possible to suck a shake through a straw without bursting a vein in your forehead. They are designed with the spoon in mind.

Kevin and Renee' swung by later that night and visited for a bit. They were kind enough to loan us baby toys and a stroller for the rest of the trip. I found myself having a hard time saying goodbye to her each time that we saw her. She is one of those friends that you can just pick up where you left off. The timeless kind. I just love her! Later that night Tom and I put the kids bed to early and started watching "The Bucket List" until we fell asleep. It was so great to just lounge on the couch together - knowing together. It was great knowing that we didn't have to be anywhere the next morning..............................except golfing and the spa :)

  1. Ohhhh, Grannies! I LOVE that place! Those shakes are famous. Anytime we'd go up to the cabin we'd come down just for those. You are making me homesick :(sniff

  2. It is so funny to hear your version of Sunday morning. Of course, with all that, you still beat us to church, and we are a 2 minute drive and have one child. It was great to see you and it was hard to say good-bye. I am glad that you liked dessert, it is one of our favorites, but we can only make it when we have company, because we'd eat the whole pan.

That's funny about Granny's, we never eat there, I don't think most locals do, but whenever we tell anyone that we live in Heber, the first thing they say is, "You are so lucky to have Granny's. We get our greasy hamburgers and shakes at Dairy Keen-The Train. I know you went there too.
