Rat Bastard Bribery

Bradley has been excited for Preschool to begin since he was two years old. He has awaited this milestone with great anticipation. We attended the open house and suddenly realized that his excitement was quickly fading. He was no longer excited to play on the playground and had a "Hell No We Won't Go!" sit in - as seen below.

We did everything that we could to build up the approaching First Day of School. It seemed that we had succeeded!

He woke up and had his favorite breakfast of "Yeggs",Toast, and Yogurt. He rushed around getting ready - with much excitement! He even did his "dance" at breakfast.
Note- the toilet paper strung all over my room is compliments of Bryce. He has reached that glorious milestone of "search and destroy".
He was doing great until he was finally ready to go - and then I saw the deer in the headlights stare. I knew something bad was going to go down.

It started with hiding behind Daddy's leg.

And progressed to refusing to get out of Daddy's lap.

And escalated into me holding him - with him begging "Don't YEAVE me here!"
(and yes - he is pulling my shirt down out of anxiety - but it was the only shot I had with him - so my apologies.)

Eventually, all of the other parent's had left and they were beginning circle time. I had a pit in my stomach. I KNEW what I had to do. I could have vomitted at the mere thought of it............ but it had to be done.

The Rat Bastard.

No, not Bradley.

Mr. Chuck E. Cheese

As soon as I mustered the strength to whisper the words....."If you are a big boy and don't cry - mommy will take you to see the rat.....er, chuck-e-cheese tomorrow."

My promise sealed the deal. He gave me a hug and a kiss and away we went. Part of me wonders if this was a manipulation on his part - just to get to go to the rats nest.

He knows that this big gun is reserved for desperate times.
